KABUL (Pajhwok): Hezbollah has named Hashim Safiuddin as its new secretary-general after the killing of Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli strike, a media report said on Monday.
Hezbollah’s council elected Safiuddin as the new secretary general of the group on Sunday, according to sources cited by Al-Arabiya.
Hassan Nasrallah had been killed in an Israeli raid on the group’s headquarters on the southern suburbs of Beirut on Friday.
The Lebanese health ministry said at least six people had been killed and 91 others wounded in the Israeli airstrike.
On Sunday, Iran urged an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council after the killing of Nasrullah.
