JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Two families in eastern Nangarhar province have reconciled after 10 years through tribal elders mediation.

Zafar Khan and Lal Mohammad’s families became enemies after they clashed on a land dispute which resulted in four casualties.

Leaders of the Ahmadzai Council in Nangarhar province mediated between the two families for a few months after which the two sides agreed to end their rivalry and reconcile.

A gathering in this regard was organised in the Mirwais Meni area of Behsud district in which the reconciliation was announced.

Noor Wali Ahmadzai, one of the National Jirga members, said the Yahyakhel local council when informed about the enmity between the two families they decided to reconcile both sides.

He said the violator of the agreement would have to pay a fine to the government and would be referred to the security officials.

The reconciled families have welcomed the ending of their enmity and thanked the mediators for their efforts; they pledged not to get involved in such issues.

Rahmanullah, one of the Zarfar Khan’s family members, said they lived in fear in the past 10 years and never felt the real pleasure of their business; youths from both sides had been deprived of education.

He said due to the land dispute one person was killed and three others injured.
