FM Muttaqi meets regional envoys in Moscow: MoFA

KABUL (Pajhwok): Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi has held meetings with Chinese, Iranian, Uzbekistan, Iran, Pakistan and India special representatives on the sideline of the sixth Moscow-Format meeting in Moscow, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said in a statement.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote that Muttaqi described the security situation in Afghanistan as reliable and said that it is in the interest of Afghanistan and all the countries of the region.

He also stressed on the development of economic cooperation, trade and investment. The representatives of the regional countries emphasized on the increase of interaction and all-round cooperation of their countries with Afghanistan and termed the situation of Afghanistan reliable.

Muttaqi suggested in the meeting that Moscow Format mechanism should be changed into a process of cooperation between Afghanistan and the region with the cooperation of the host country and the member countries of the Moscow Format.

In addition, Muttaqi asked the countries of the region to cooperate in preventing the recruitment of their citizens by Daesh and their repatriation to Afghanistan.

During the meeting, the representative of China and the foreign minister of Russia welcomed the measures taken in the field of security and economic policy of IEA and said that Afghanistan wanted to become the center of economic and regional connectivity.

Russia Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, said that he believed that the continuation of constructive dialogue with the current government of Afghanistan was in the interest of its security, economic development and national unity.
