Wrestling contest held to select top players in Helmand

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): A wrestling competition featuring 100 wrestlers from 12 districts was held in southern Helmand province to select players for the provincial team, an official said on Saturday.

Deputy Governor Maulvi Mohammad Qasim Riaz told Pajhwok Afghan News that the event, organized by the Wrestling Federation, aimed to identify top talent for the provincial team.

As a result, 10 exceptional wrestlers were chosen to represent the province.

The contests were conducted across various age categories, and the standout performers were awarded cash prizes from both the federation and several local businesspeople.
