5-month exports to Central Asia via Sher Khan Port exceed $5m

KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): The Chamber of Commerce and Investment in northern Kunduz province says goods worth over $5 million have been exported to Central Asian countries through the Sher Khan port over the past five months.

Abdul MatinYousafzai, deputy head of the chamber, told Pajhwok Afghan News mobile oil, tyres, dried fruits and various other products were exported to Central Asia during the period.

He commented, "Thank God, trade has been thriving lately, and traders are operating in a calm environment."

Mohammad Nasim Rasooli, a local trader, also expressed satisfaction with the facilities at the Sher Khan port. But he said visa problems in Tajikistan posed a significant challenge to traders.

He remarked, "Exports and imports at Sher Khan port are going well; there are no major issues for us. We are very pleased.

“But the only problem is the issuance of a limited number of visa for Tajikistan. Visas are available in black market, but obtaining them through regular channels is difficult. We hope this issue will be resolved soon.”

Meanwhile, Noor-ul-HaqOmari, deputy head of foreign affairs in Kunduz, discussed efforts to address the Tajikistan visa issue for traders.

He added, "We have provided the necessary facilities for our traders and have raised the visa matter with Tajikistan. God willing, this problem will be resolved soon."

Sher Khan is a vital port in northern Afghanistan, connecting the country with Tajikistan and facilitating the transfer of commercial goods to Central Asian nations.
