GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): A 50-over cricket tournament, featuring 14 teams, has concluded in southern Ghazni province, with Qala-i-Jawaz team emerging champions.
Ghazni’s Cricket Director Abdul Wadod Paktiawal told Pajhwok Afghan News the tournament started a month ago by Afghanistan Domestic Cricket Development.
He said the final match was played between Qala-i-Jawaz and Marhaba teams today (Saturday).
He added Qala-i-Jawaz clinched the title by beating the opponents in the final.
He explained top players of the tournament would be selected to grade two provincial event.
On the other hand, cricket players were also happy over the tournament.
Lal Gul, a cricket player, called such tournaments effective in enhancing players’ capacity.
He asked the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) to establish standard cricket grounds in the province.
