Afghan ambassador to Uzbekistan presents credentials

KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan’s new ambassador to Uzbekistan, Sheikh Abdul Ghafar Bahar, has officially presented his credentials to the country’s Foreign Minister, Bakhtiyor Saidov.

On September 18, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Bahar's appointment as the ambassador to Uzbekistan.

Abdul Qahar Balkhi, a spokesman for the MoFA, wrote on X that Bahar formally submitted a copy of his credentials to Saidov.

During the ceremony, Saidov warmly welcomed the ambassador, viewing this exchange as a significant step toward strengthening diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan.

He highlighted that both countries share common interests and have experienced substantial economic growth over the past three years.

Saidov expressed optimism that the appointment of the IEA ambassador would further enhance bilateral relations.

Sheikh Bahar, expressing his happiness in assuming the role of Afghanistan's official ambassador to Uzbekistan, emphasized the importance of upgrading bilateral relations, hoping for continued progress and expansion.

In the near future, Bahar is expected to present his original letter of credence to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan, Balkhi added.
