KABUL (Pajhwok): The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) has welcomed a top Russian diplomat’s call for continued talks with the interim Afghan government for maintaining peace in Central Asia.
In a meeting on Central Asia’s regional security in Dushanbe, Grigory Karasin, head of the International Affairs Committee of the Russian Federation Council, said dialogue was essential with the caretaker Afghan government to maintain peace and stability in Central Asia.
Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesman for IEA, said: "We welcome the positive stance of Russia. It is indeed a fact that dialogue between the caretaker Afghan government and regional countries is important for stability and expansion of relations."
He opined political dialogue could pave the way for positive interaction, underlining Kabul’s belief in constructive interaction.
Earlier, Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov had said IEA would be removed from Moscow’s list of terrorist organisations in the near future
