KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI) says over 70 million afghanis were recorded in sales at the third Imam Abu Hanifa Exhibition in Kabul.
Additionally, contracts valued at over $50 million were signed between domestic and international companies during the event.
The third Imam Abu Hanifa Exhibition, which took place from October 6 to October 13, attracted around 700,000 visitors.
ACCI’s Deputy Financial and Administrative Chief Mir ZamanPopal noted that 324 contracts worth over 60 million afghanis were signed between traders and domestic companies.
He also said contracts exceeding $50 million were reached between domestic and foreign firms.
Mohammad YounusMohmand, deputy director of ACCI, emphasised the significance of such exhibitions for promoting the country’s products. He called on the international community to release Afghanistan’s frozen assets.
Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs Maulvi Abdul Kabir underlined the necessity of stronger economic ties with neighbouring and regional countries.
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) had created a conducive environment for investment across all sectors, he claimed.
The deputy premier expressed hope that both domestic and foreign investors would seize the available opportunities in the country.
Dr. Latif Nazari, deputy minister of economy, highlighted IEA's goals, such as combating corruption, ensuring security and achieving balanced economic growth in all provinces.
Meanwhile, several exhibitors expressed their satisfaction with sales and urged the interim government to organise such events regularly.
Habibullah, an exhibitor, reported good sales and said customers from African and Arab countries also attended the show.
Ahmad Wael, another exhibitor, echoed similar sentiments and called for organising more exhibitions.
According to ACCI, products from traders and investors were displayed in 700 booths, with approximately 125 booths allotted to women.
