Bid to smuggle 1,866kg of gold to Iran foiled

KABUL (Pajhwok): Security forces have thwarted an attempt to smuggle 1,866 kilograms of gold to Iran in the northwestern Nimroz province, an official said on Tuesday.

Mufti Abdul Matin Qane, a spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, told Pajhwok Afghan News that a man was attempting to transport the gold via Abrasham port to Iran.

He said that the suspected smuggler has been arrested and is currently under investigation.
