Nangarhar clinch football championship title

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A football tournament, featuring six teams, has concluded in eastern Nangarhar province, with the hosts emerging victorious.

The tournament titled “Champions Cup”, featuring teams from Kabul, Laghman, Nuristan, Paktia, Maidan Wardak and Nangarhar, started ten days ago and concluded late on Monday, Physical Training and Sports Director Abdul Salam Wazirwal said.

He said Paktia and Nangarhar teams found their way to the final of the tournament.

He added that the Nangarhar team clinched the title after beating the opposition in the final clash on Monday.

He announced the winning team also found their place in 12 best teams of the country.

Meanwhile, athletes were also happy over the tournament.

Rahmatullah, a player of the Nangarhar team, asked the sport federation to organize more such events.
