PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Officials at the Education Department of northern Baghlan province say more than 29,000 children are enrolled in community-based education classes across six districts, including the provincial capital.
Mohammad Omar Omari, head of the Quality Assurance at the Baghlan Education Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News that with support of various organizations, 29,023 children, including girls, are enrolled in 987 local classes in remote areas of six districts, including Pul-i-Khumri.
He added all students in these classes had been unable to attend school due to its remoteness or they had recently returned from exile. They will be enrolled in government schools after the sixth grade.
According to him, 50 percent of the students in these classes are girls, and the educational curriculum is being taught by 1,210 female and male teachers appointed by the Ministry of Education.
