2 IS-K militants killed in Ghor: Mujahid

KABUL (Pajhwok): Two IS-K militants have been killed and an several others arrested by security forces during an operation on targeting a militant hideout in western Ghor province, says an spokesman for the interim government.

Zabihullah Mujahid wrote on his X handle that a “group of foment insurgents" was targeted on Sunday afternoon in the capital of Ghor.

Mujahid said: “The group was involved in attacking a number of Shiites in the provincial capital on September 12, an incident which left 20 civilians dead.”

The Shiites, who wanted to welcome pilgrims returning from the Karbala city of Iraq, were stopped by four armed motorcyclists.

At least 14 people were killed and six others injured in the attack in an area on the border between Daikundi and Ghor provinces.

Subsequently, the Islamic State claimed responsibility for the killings.

Mujahid said the group was also involved in a number of attacks in Kabul and central Bamyan provinces.

The IS hideout was raided in the Marko area of the provincial capital. The group leader and an important member o the gang were killed in the operation.

The arrested members of the group confessed on their crimes, he added.

“Unfortunately, the group was directly led by IS-K centres in the Balochistan province of Pakistan and conducted attacks on their direct orders. Some members of this group were arrested while fleeing back to Balochistan”.

Arms, equipment, hand grenades and explosives were also recovered from these militants, the IEA spokesman concluded.
