KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Construction work has been initiated on 20 school buildings at a cost 178 million afghanis in 12 districts of southern Kandahar province.
Kamal Shah Sadat, spokesman for the Economy Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News new buildings were being constructed for schools in Arghandab, Lor Shah Walikot, Khakrez, Mianishin, Nish, Dand, Daman, Arghistan, Maroof and Spin Boldak districts.
Funded by the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), the projects would take six months to complete, he said.
The official added school would have capacity for 240 students, who would be provided with an enabling learning environment.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education said 12 school buildings were being reconstructed in Paron, the capital of eastern Nuristan province, and different districts.
Financed by a partner institution, the ministry said, the projects would account for 29 million afghanis.
