KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (MoLSA) says that Turkish businessmen are interested in investing in the extraction of oil and gas in Afghanistan.
They also evinced an interest in investments in fabric production, furniture making, as well as the import and maintenance of machinery in Afghanistan.
On its Facebook page, MoLSA wrote that Deputy Minister Maulvi Mohammad Zahid met Sheikh Muhammad Turan, who is leading a Turkish business delegation, at his office.
It said the visiting delegation discussed topics related to employing foreign nationals in business and production, wage payment procedures, taxation and insurance systems, and the rights and responsibilities of workers and employers, as well as the import, operation and maintenance of machinery.
During the meeting, the delegation members shared information about their visit to Afghanistan and said: “We want to invest in the extraction of oil and gas, clothing manufacturing, furniture production, road construction, and the import and maintenance of machinery.”
Maulvi Zahid said relations between Turkey and Afghanistan had a historical background, with both countries standing by each other.
He remarked: “Currently, many Afghan refugees are residing in Turkey, having invested in various sectors, and we hope that the issues faced by them will be resolved and their rights protected.”
He added security had been established throughout the country, with IEA providing opportunities for business and investment. There were no problems for domestic or foreign traders, he insisted.
According to him, if Turkish businessmen are interested in investment in Afghanistan, facilities would be provided in accordance with relevant laws.
