NEILLI (Pajhwok): Two school buildings have been constructed and put into service in Neilli, the capital of central Daikundi province, and Ashtarli district, the Department of Education said in a statement on Saturday.
The buildings were constructed for Taq Aros School in Ashtarli district and Refugees Township School in Neili at the cost of $660,000.
Funds for the projects were provided by the Watan’s Social & Technical Association (WSTA) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the statement said.
Education Director Maulvi Rahmatullah Qandili told the inaugural ceremony safe learning environments were provided to the students over the execution of the projects.
He said each school has modern classrooms, libraries, power systems, playgrounds and other necessary facilities.
Meanwhile, residents and students in the province have often been complaining about the lack of school buildings.
Earlier, Education Department officials had said a total of 431 schools existed in the province out of which 170 schools in different districts were without buildings.
As many as 133,000 students, including 71,000 boys and 61,000 girls, have been studying in these schools.
