SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): The optical fiber transmission project has been kicked off and will be completed in three years in northern Jawzjan province, an official said on Wednesday.
In the opening ceremony, Eng. Mohammad Nasim Nazari, head of Afghan Telecom for northern Zone, explained the project would be completed at a cost of 70 million afghanis over three years.
He said this project was carried out by Smart Taj Company and it included laying pipe and optical fiber cabling.
According to him, 400 people have directly found jobs in the project and its completion will enable government offices and residents of Jawzjan to find access to cheap and high-quality internet.
All employees and engineers of Afghan Telecom are from within the country and they do not need any foreigners.
Maulvi Sanaullah Masoom, head of telecommunications and information technology, explained they were trying to compete with private internet providers through investments in the Afghan Telecom sector so that people can use cheap and better internet.
Currently, security is fully provided and major projects are being implemented in various sectors, governor Qari Gul Haidar Shafaq said.
Islamic Emirate officials will gradually provide services to all people, and from now on people will see more services from the IEA, he added.
