HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): A nine-year-old boy has been rescued from kidnappers after one year of captivity and reunited with his family in western Herat province, police said on Thursday.
In a statement, the police headquarter said a minor boy had been abducted one year ago from the 10th police district of Herat City, the provincial capital.
But the child had been rescued during an operation and handed over to his family by security forces.
Injil district police chief Maulvi Mohammad Hassan Ihsan confirmed the operation, saying the child had been taken to Pakistan after being abducted.
Later on, the security forces arrested the kidnappers and they brought the child back to the province, the police officer explained.
Meanwhile, the child’s father recalled his son had been kidnapped last year when he was busy with his daily business,.
He appreciated security forces’ efforts and asked the people to cooperate with crime-control measures. He did not provide details about the kidnappers.
