KABUL (Pajhwok): Najmul Hossain Shanto will captain Bangladesh in the upcoming ODI series against Afghanistan in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The three-match One-Day International series is scheduled to commence on Wednesday (November 6) at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
On Friday, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) unveiled the squad, retaining Shanto as skipper, according to Cricket Times.
On the basis of his strong showing on the domestic front, ncapped quickies Nahid Rana has been included in the team.
Wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das, who is still recovering from illness, is a notable omission. Also left out of the side is pacer Tanzim Shakib, who is suffering from a shoulder injury. Anamul Haque, Taijul Islam and Hasan Mahmud are also out of the team.
Surprisingly, the report said, all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has opted out of the series. He had also missed the last Test against South Africa due to security concerns.
