KABUL (Pajhwok): Uzbekistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan and top European Union diplomat have discussed the current situation in Afghanistan.
Uzbekistan envoy Ismatulla Irgashev met EU Special Representative for Central Asia Terhi Hakala, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said in a statement.
Hakala highly appreciated the efforts of Uzbekistan to develop a consolidated regional position on Afghanistan, establish long-term peace and stability in the country.
The two sides expressed mutual interest in continuing bilateral consultations on the Afghan issue.
Last week, Uzbekistan’s special representative met Nico Schermers, Netherland ambassador to Uzbekistan and discussed the situation in Afghanistan.
Uzbekistan is one of the countries which has good political and economic relations with Kabul after the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA).
