MAIDAN SHAHR (Pajhwok): A school building that consumed five million afghanis has been constructed and put into service in central Maidan Wardak province, an official said on Thursday.
Education Director Mohmmad Osman Hurriat told Pajhwok Afghan News the building for Deh Bala Kohne Khumar primary school was constructed in the provincial capital.
He said the building valued five million afghanis and was funded by the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF).
According to him, a perimeter wall, drinking water system, six toilets, concreted garbage, a thousand liter water tank, solar power and some others have been built in the school.
Merajuddin, a teacher, told Pajhwok this school had previously classrooms and administrative rooms, but had no other facilities.
Now, all parts of the school have been constructed and students can study in a safe environment, Merajuddin added.
Meanwhile, UNICEF built a building for Sherkhan School in Jalrez district and put it into service on Wednesday.
