GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): A new health centre building has been completed and put into service in the Maqur district of Ghazni province, at a cost of 9.5 million afghanis.
The facility is dedicated to the treatment of malnourished children.
Dr. Abdul Matin Hashimi, the head of the district’s public health department, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the building, funded by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), was constructed over eight months.
The center covers an area of 300 square meters, with solid foundations, five rooms, one general hall, and five bathrooms.
This facility will serve not only Maqur but also the districts of Ab Band, Nawa, Gilan, and Jaghori, providing critical care for malnourished children in the region.
Local residents have welcomed the new center. Abdul Ali, a tribal elder from Maqur, emphasized the urgent need for such a facility, noting that many children in the district suffer from malnutrition.
He expressed satisfaction that the new center will help address this pressing issue.
This is the latest step in ongoing efforts to improve healthcare services in Ghazni, where similar treatment centers have already been established in other districts, including Ajristan and Nawur.
