ITF medals winning players applauded in Kabul

KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Olympic Committee and Sports and Physical Training Department have appreciated Taekwondo and Wushu players who have won two gold medals and four silver medals in recent competitions held in Uzbekistan.

General Director of the National Olympic Committee Ahmadullah congratulated the athletes and added that with the return of the Islamic Emirate, serious attention has been paid to the sports sector and the country's athletes have achieved great honors in various international competitions

He emphasized that the Islamic Emirate and the country's sports department would not spare any opportunity to support athletes.

Gold Medal Winner Humayon Rahimi expressed his joy by winning the gold medal and asked the government to pay attention to the financial condition of players.

It is pertinent to mention that the International Taikwando Federation (ITF) competitions were held for one week in Uzbekistan’s capital Tashkent in which 1,200 players from 20 nations participated.

North Korea won the championship, Russia was second and Uzbekistan grabbed third position.
