3-month long cricket tournament concludes in Kunduz

KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): A 50-over interclub cricket tournament has concluded in northern Kunduz province, with Alokozai team emerging championships.

Kunduz’s Cricket Director Emdadullah Shinwari said the tournament started three months ago and was aimed at selecting best players for national and international sides.

He said the final match was played between Alokozai and Sardar Zadran teams. The Alokozai clinched the title by beating the opponents in the final.

“One-day competitions are very good for young athletes, Alhamdulillah, we did good competitions and we ask officials to support us more”: Ahmad Watandost, an player, explained.

According to Abdul Mosawer, another player,: “This is the first year we attended this tournament. Alhamdulillah, our team moved up to the semi-final, every year, Kunduz province gets best cricket players and new faces”.

Recently, youth’s interest in cricket has increased and interclub tournaments are held every year for selecting best figures for high level competitions.
