KABUL (Pajhwok): One person was killed and crops on hundreds of acres of land were destroyed due to heavy rains and hailstorm in various districts of eastern Nangarhar province on Monday.
A person named Mohammad Wali was killed after his house roof collapsed due to heavy rains in Koz Kunar district, the governor’s house said in a statement.
It said the natural disaster department had started surveying the damage. Initial information suggested that crops were destroyed on hundreds of acres of land in Kama, Koz Kunar, Goshti and Batikot districts.
The statement further added investigation into the damage was ongoing and the department concerned will provide necessary assistance to the victims.
Rehan Khan, a resident of Kama distric, told Pajhwok that this morning's rain, accompanied by hail, caused a lot of damage to his crops.
Similarly, Shah Mahmoud, a resident of Kuz Kunar district, also said that besides destroying crops, hail and rain caused other financial losses to the people.
