KABUL (Pajhwok): The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) says it is currently providing assistance to 71,000 needy families in the capital Kabul.
Governor Mullah Aminullah Obaid met WFP officials here today (Tuesday), his office said in a statement.
WFP officials said they were currently providing aid to 71,000 needy families in the province.
They added the organisation was also providing health, education and other social services in addition to food assistance.
Meanwhile, Governor Obaid urged WFP officials to transparently distribute aid to the deserving households.
He praised WFP activities and assured solution to the problems being encountered by the UN agency.
