KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Olympic Committee and the General Directorate of Physical Training and Sports have praised fitness, snooker and martial athletes who won medals in international competitions.

Afghanistan’s national bodybuilding and fitness athletes returned to the country after participating in the 15th round of world championships hosted by the Maldives. They were praised during a ceremony on Wednesday.

In this ceremony, technical and professional assistant of physical training, Hafiz Ahmadjan Zadran, congratulated the athletes on their success. He added the Islamic Emirate was paying special attention to the sports sector and supported athletes.

According to him, it is the bravery of Afghan players who win medals in international competitions.

Ali Raza Asahi, who Afghan national fitness athlete who won gold medal in the Maldives, told Pajhwok Afghan News this was the second time he won first place in the competitions.

National snooker player, Salih Mohammad Mohammadi participated in world snooker championship hosted by Qatar. He was happy to defeat eight opponents and secured second place. He explained he always tried to win honor for the country.

Another athletes, who participated in the world championships in Uzbekistan, said he was happy that he performed well and won gold medal.

Meanwhile, the 15th round of world bodybuilding and fitness championship was held in the Maldives and nine Afghan players participated in the event.

In these competitions, Ali Raza Asahi won gold medals, Hamidullah Omari and Hamidullah Khushdil won silver medals, Mohammad Ayub Azimi, Naseebullah Azimi and Abdul Halim Ahmadi won bronze medals.

The world snooker competition concluded in Qatar and ended on November 9 and four wing hunters from Afghanistan took part. Among them, Saleh Mohammad Mohammadi won the second place by getting a silver medal.

Afghan weightlifting athletes won two gold, two bronze and one silver medals in in Uzbekistan on November 2 to 8.
