KABUL (Pajhwok):  In a significant step towards the country’s infrastructure development and reconstruction, the National Procurement Commission (NPC) has approved contracts for 27 key projects valued at approximately five billion afghanis.

Chaired by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, the contracts were approved for 27 key projects.

The meeting held at the Maramarin Palace was given presentation of 47 projects, out of which 27 were approved for implementation.

Additionally, eight projects underwent modifications, while four were canceled due to various reasons. Furthermore, contracts for eight other projects were referred to specialized committees for further negotiations with the winning companies to finalize terms and pricing.

The approved and modified projects include crucial initiatives aimed at strengthening the country's infrastructure and providing essential services.

Notable projects include reconstruction of Sultan Dam in Ghazni province to improve water storage and irrigation, and the construction of the second block of the Tahia-i-Maskan housing complex in Kabul city, which will provide housing for hundreds of families.

Other key projects include construction of appellate court buildings in Logar and Kandahar provinces, which will help in strengthening the judicial system, and the renovation of several internal roads in Kabul to improve commuting.

Additionally, the commission approved the procurement of essential electrical equipment for various provinces, which is expected to enhance the power supply and meet the growing energy demands across the country.

The total value of these approved and modified contracts amounts to approximately five billion afghanis, funded by the Islamic Emirate.

These projects are seen as vital for the country's economic recovery and long-term development, with the government prioritizing infrastructure and essential services as part of its national development strategy.
