KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Public Health Department of southeastern Khost province says about 11 clinics are functioning in improper rented houses due shortage of own buildings.
One of these clinics is the Gharshin health centre, which is currently operating in a rented house in the Latko area.
According to the inhabitants of the area, the house was originally built for a poultry farm, but now health services are being provided to the people there.
They say the health services provided in this centre are not standard and they have long been facing a number of problems.
Mirwais, an inhabitant of the area, told Pajhwok Afghan News: “The house does not have all facilities. It is very narrow and short. It used to be a chicken farm, but now a clinic has been operating in it.”
Saleh Mohammad, another resident of the area, said the house, where the Gharnshin clinic was currently operating, was not a suitable place for the health centre.
He urged the concerned officials to construct a standard building for their clinic.
Meanwhile, Director of the Clinic Dr. Abdul Razaq told Pajhwok the health centre was visited by around 400 patients on a daily basis.
He grumbled that they could not provide adequate services to patients due to shortage of a proper building.
He also urged the caretaker government to set up a standard building for them.
At the same time, Public Health Director Dr. Ahmad Mujahid also acknowledged the problem and said eleven health centres have been operating in the rented houses in the province.
He assured that the problem would be resolved in near future.
He added: “About 11 clinics are operating in rented houses in the province. We shared the problem with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) and buildings for these health centres would be constructed.”
