KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Works (MoPW) has directed all security officials using private vehicles to pay a toll on highways.
A toll of 80 afghanis is collected from small and passenger vehicles and 100 afghanis per tyre from cargo trucks at toll plazas on highways.
The MoPW said toll plazas had been activated on highways leading from Kabul to Ghazni and Jalalabad, as well as the Salang road.
Based on an order from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan leadership, the fee was meant for the reconstruction of highways, added Mohammad Ashraf Haqshanas.
In a statement on X, the official urged personnel of the Ministry of Defence (MoD), Ministry of Interior (MoI), General Directorate of Intelligence and all other security entities, to pay the tax while travelling in private vehicles.
The ministry also asked officials of these ministries and agencies to cooperate with toll plaza staff and avoid creating problems for them while travelling highways.
