Afghanistan’s UN membership turns 78

KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan became member of the United Nations family 78 years ago on November 19, 1946, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said on Tuesday.

On X, UNAMA wrote: “Pictured is envoy, Abdol Hosayn Aziz, signing the instrument of adherence to the UN Charter”.

“Alongside Iceland & Sweden, the Afghan people became proud members of the global community”: the mission added.

According to UNAMA, it has been supporting the country from the stages of peace and tranquility to wars, development, unrest and political changes for nearly 80 years.
