KABUL (Pajhwok): China’s Special Representative for Afghanistan Yuxiao Yong says his country respects the values and choices of Afghans.
He said this at a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said.
A statement from the ministry said the two sides discussed ties between Kabul and Beijing, economic cooperation and regional issues.
Muttaqi hailed ties between the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) and China as positive and stressed the need for further boosting bilateral cooperation.
For his part, the Chinese special representative also acknowledged an upswing in relations between the two countries. He said China respected the values and choices of Afghans.
The visiting diplomat invited Muttaqi to participate in the upcoming meeting of foreign ministers from countries neighbouring Afghanistan.
On Sunday, Muttaqi also met Russia's special representative for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov. The two sides talked about bilateral ties, economic cooperation and investment in Afghanistan.
