Five arrested in Nangarhar over cutting forest trees

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Five individuals have been arrested for arbitrarily cutting forest trees in Nazian district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Monday.

Based on an order from the Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), cutting forest trees and smuggling timber is banned in the country and any violation of this order is considered an illegal act with consequences.

Nangarhar police spokesman Sayed Taib Hamaad told Pajhwok Afghan News security personnel arrested five individuals who were cutting forest trees in Nazian district.

The violators succeeded to cut around 30 forest-trees so the security personnel conducted operation for arresting them.

The incarcerated people are under interrogation and their cases will be referred to judicial organs, Hamaad added.
