KABUL (Pajhwok): The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the United Kingdom have underlined the need to enhance interaction with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA).
OIC Envoy for Afghanistan Tarig Ali Bakheet met UK Special Representative Andy McCoubrey in his office on Monday night, the largest Islamic bloc said in a statement.
It added the exchange focused mainly on the situation in Afghanistan within the framework of the follow-up to the major issues discussed at the third UN-called meeting in Doha.
The statement added: “Both sides underlined the pressing need to enhance existing engagement with the de facto authorities in a bid to effectively grapple with the multiple challenges, including economic, humanitarian and human rights priorities, facing the country and its people.”
