KABUL (Pajhwok): Seven Afghan players have been purchased by different franchises for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The IPL 2025 auction was held on Sunday and Monday in the Jeddah city of Saudi Arabia.
Afghanistan’s star opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz was purchased by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for Rs2 crore.
Afghan spinner Noor Ahmad has been bought by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for Rs10 crore.
Eighteen-year-old spinner Allah Ghazanfar has been bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs 4.8 crore.
Azmatullah Omarzai, a dependable all-rounder, has been purchased by Punjab Kings for Rs 2.4 crore and Karim Janat by Gujarat Titans for Rs 75 lakh.
Gujarat Titans retained veteran leggie and Afghanistan T20 skipper Rashid Khan for the IPL 2025 season, which is scheduled to kick off on March 14.
