KABUL (Pajhwok): The deputy minister of public works has travelled to Turkey to attend a meeting of the International Union of Railways (UIC).
Mohammad Ashraf Haqshanas, spokesman for MoPW, wrote on X Deputy Minister Maulvi Mohammad Ishaq Sahibzada would attend the 34th gathering of UIC in Turkey.
After the presentation of the union’s annual report, participants will discuss ways of improving rail transportation, luring investment to this sector and recent achievements in the field of railways.
Sahibzada will deliver a speech about activities, achievements, ongoing projects, regional connectivity, progress and future plans for the railway network in Afghanistan.
Afghanistan joined UIC, a worldwide professional association representing the railway sector and promoting rail transport, in 2013.
