HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TiKA) has donated vital medical equipment to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the zonal hospital in western Herat province.
Arafat Deniz, the TiKA Coordination Director in Afghanistan, confirmed the donation, which includes an echocardiography machine, a ventilator, five patient monitors, and five beds for ICU patients.
Deniz emphasized that Turkey remains committed to supporting Afghanistan’s healthcare sector.
Dr. Shoaib Hamidi, the ICU director, praised the donation, saying that the new equipment would significantly benefit patients in need of intensive care.
However, he highlighted that the unit still requires eight additional patient beds and other modern medical devices.
Dr. Mohammad Ibrahim Anees, the hospital director, expressed gratitude for the timely support, acknowledging the serious need for such equipment in the ICU.
He also noted that efforts are ongoing to secure additional donations to address the hospital's continued medical equipment shortages.
TiKA has previously donated similar medical supplies to the hospital, further solidifying its ongoing support for Afghanistan's healthcare system.
