KABUL (Pajhwok): The High Council for Standards (HCS) has given go-ahead to 30 standards in its second meeting.
Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar presided over the HCS second meeting at the Marmarin Palace today (Saturday), his office said in a statement.
The meeting was also attended by the Director-General of the National Standards Authority, Mullah Faizullah Tamim, permanent members of the council, and representatives from the private sector.
The deputy premier emphasised the necessity of formulating and implementing standards to ensure provision of quality domestic and imported products to the Afghan people.

He strongly urged all institutions to strictly implement and monitor the standards approved by the council.
The session presented 30 proposed standards for approval in various sectors, including construction materials, food and beverages, medical equipment, mining, petroleum products, textiles, environmental protection, and electrical appliances.
The proposed standards were approved after a comprehensive discussion.
Earlier, about 24 standards had been approved by the HCS in its maiden meeting.
