KABUL (Pajhwok): Qatari Chargé d'Affaires Mirdef Alqashouti has invited Minister of Labour and Social Affairs to visit Doha for talks on implementation of an agreement on sending Afghan workers to the Gulf country.
Labour minister Mullah Abdul Manan Omari met Qatar’s Chargé d'Affaires Mirdef Alqashouti, the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (MoLSA) said.
A statement from the ministry said the two sides discussed enhanced strategic cooperation between Kabul and Doha.
It added they also emphasised on setting up joint committees for implementation of the deal on sending skilled Afghan workers to Qatar.
Omari expressed his ministry’s readiness to initiate joint projects in areas of employment creation and provision of social services to Afghans.
The minister also talked about the current investment opportunities in the country. He said security had been enforced across the country and invited Qatari’s investors to invest in Afghanistan.
Mirdef Alqashouti praised friendly ties between the two countries. He extended an official invitation to the minister to visit Doha and meet his Qatari counterpart on implementation of the accord on sending skilled workers to the Gulf nation..
Earlier, the ministry had said as many as 650,000 Afghans would be sent to foreign countries for work based on bilateral agreements.
The agreements were signed by the previous government, but their implementation was delayed due to various problems.
