KABUL (Pajhwok): As many as 189,635 disabled individuals are registered with the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled Affairs (MoMDA), the ministry said on Tuesday, marking December 3 the United Nations' International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
On the occasion of this day, Mufti Faisal Khamosh, spokesman for MoMDA, in a video clip said: “December 3 marks the United Nations' International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
“MoMDA offers assurance and sympathizes with all those disabled persons who lost their limbs during the Jahadi struggle, fought for the glory of Allah, the enforcement of Islamic Sharia and due to natural disasters,” he added.
He assured the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled Affairs was striving to provide disabled persons with all facilities in different parts of the country.
He said the ministry also distributed 10.906 million afghanis in cash to orphans, disabled people and widows across the country through banking system during five months of the current solar year.
He added MoMDA also registered 189,635 disabled people and they included disabled of Islamic Emirate, civil and disabled of the previous government.
According to Khamosh, all registered disabled persons are given monthly cash assistance through banks according to the plan approved by MoMDA.
