KABUL (Pajhwok): The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) has pledged $3 million to help combat polio in Afghanistan.
In a post on X, the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) announced the donation after the signing of a Memorandum of Financial Contribution by Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, president of the bank, and Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, supervisor-general of KSrelief.
The $3 million funding will support the Polio Legacy Challenge, a programme designed to combat polio and strengthen essential healthcare services in Afghanistan.
Dr. Al Jasser expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s continued commitment to the initiative, highlighting the critical support being provided to Afghanistan’s most vulnerable communities.
The funding is expected to play a key role in the ongoing efforts to eradicate polio and improve healthcare infrastructure in the country.
