KABUL (Pajhwok): The Iranian president has blasted Israel for fuelling terrorism in the Islamic world, saying insecurity is in no one’s interest.
In a telephone call with Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, President Masoud Pezeshkian alleged the Zionist regime did not want Muslim nations to live in peace.
IRNA quoted him as stressing the imperative of shunning differences and promoting unity among Muslim countries.
The two sides, who agreed on further boosting bilateral relations, conferred on the latest developments in Gaza, Lebanon and Syria.
About the situation in northern Syria, the Iranian leader the spread of insecurity and terrorism did not serve the interests of any country.
Regional leaders must take the initiative to ensure security and thereby block foreign meddling in the internal affairs of Muslim nations, he stressed.
Pezeshkian went on to commend Qatar’s role as a mediator in regional crises, particularly in the ongoing Gaza conflict.
He hoped Qatar would push ahead with its determination to bring peace to the region and both countries would continue to work for strengthening unity Islamic countries.
The emir noted the Qatar-Iran identity of views on regional issues, particularly Gaza, Lebanon and Syria’s territorial integrity.
