KABUL (Pajhwok): Da Afghanistan Breshna Shirkat (DABS) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdul Bari Omar on Wednesday travelled to Turkmenistan to extend the electricity supply contract to 2025.
In a statement, the power utility said Omar, heading a delegation, left for Turkmenistan today to sign the electricity supply agreement for the upcoming year.
It added Omar met DordiIlyasov, CEO of Turkmen Energo (the Turkmen power utility), Murad Artikov, director of the TAP project, and several other senior officials.
During the visit, Omar discussed the TAP project and other relevant matters with the Turkmen side, with the power purchase agreement for 2025 scheduled to be signed.
Omar emphasised the importance of strengthening economic ties between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan, two neighboring and brotherly countries.
He also commended Turkmenistan for its ongoing support and cooperation with Afghanistan.
Representatives from Afghanistan's Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Finance also part of the delegation, highlighting the significance of the visit.
