KABUL (Pajhwok): Traditional medicine in Afghanistan should be standardized and made part of modern medicine section and a standardized curriculum should be prepared for those interested in it, the acting public health minister said on Thursday.
In a statement, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) announced that acting minister Noor Jalal Jalali addressed a gathering about traditional medicine during his trip to China.
The aim of the gathering was to exchange experiences and achievements of traditional medicine among officials, researchers and representatives of different companies from various countries, MoPH added.
Jalali underlined the cooperation between the World Health Organization (WHO) and Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) regarding traditional medicine and added: “The traditional medicine of Afghanistan must be standardized, included in modern medicine and written on educational curriculum.”
He further emphsised on bilateral cooperation between Afghanistan and China regarding traditional medicine to facilitate exchange of experiences and research.
According to MoPH, the traditional medicine department has been included in the structure of the ministry for more improvements in the work of physicians and making policy guidelines.
