2 miners die of suffocation in Bamyan coalmine

BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): Two coal miners have died of suffocation caused by lack of oxygen in a coal mine in the Seghan district of central Bamyan province.

Abdul Ghafor Farzan Seghani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the incident took place in the Khwaja Ganj area of the district late on Saturday.

He said that the two miners died after inhaling toxic gas. Their bodies have been handed over to their families.

According to him, the governor has directed relevant authorities to take immediate strides to prevent illegal and unsafe mining practices by local residents, aiming to avoid such events in the future.
