KABUL (Pajhwok): The Salang Highway, which connects Kabul to northern provinces, reopened for passenger vehicles on Sunday, the Ministry of Public Works (MoPW) said.
Mohammad Ashraf Haqshanas, a spokesman for the MoPW, wrote on X that the crucial route had been closed on Saturday due to heavy snowfall and a windstorm. The highway is now open to light traffic.
The MoPW advised drivers to carry essential items such as tire chains, warm clothing, food, and fuel when traveling along the highway.
