Afghanistan finish 2nd in Egypt wrestling championship

KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghan athletes won two gold, as many bronze and one silver, medals and finished second in the international wrestling championship hosted by Egypt, the National Olympic Committee said on Monday.

On X, Olympic and Sport Department wrote the wrestling tournament titled Ibrahim Mustafa featuring eight countries was launched in Cairo city of Egypt on Sunday.

It said nine Afghan wrestlers participated in the competition and won one silver, two gold, and two bronze medals, finishing second.

According to GDPES, five Afghan athletes participated in the “Gregorman style” and four others in the “Freestyle wrestling”.

In these competitions, Egypt won most medals, taking first place, Afghanistan got second, Jordan third, Bulgaria fourth and China fifth position.
