PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): A two-week long volleyball tournament, featuring 33 teams, kicked off in Pul-i-Alam, the capital of central Logar province, on Wednesday, an official announced.
Physical Training and Sports Director Muzamil Nyaimzai told Pajhwok Afghan News the winter volleyball tournament started today and would last for two weeks.
He said: “The tournament is aimed to promote volleyball in the province, share experience between players and identify best players for the provincial team.”
He said his department was striving to organize such tournaments in districts as well and provide volleyball players with all possible facilities.
On the other hand, players were also happy over the start of the tournament.
Abdullah, a volleyball player, told Pajhwok that he was happy over the launch of the tournament.
He asked the Volleyball Federation to provide them with capacity building programs and construct standard grounds in the province.
Two weeks ago, a wrestling competition, featuring 50 wrestlers, commenced in the province.
