JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A woman along with her son has killed her daughter-in-law before setting alight her body in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Wednesday.
Police spokesman Syed Taib Hamad told Pajhwok Afghan News the woman was beaten and strangled, and then her body was burnt.
Two individuals have been detained in connection with the murder in limits of the 8th police district of Jalalabad, the provincial capital.
The detainees, the victim’s brother-in-law and mother-in-law, had confessed to their crime, the police official added.
In a video clip, the police headquarters said Ismail had confessed to beating and strangulating his sister-in-law. Later, his mother set alight the woman’s body.
“We beat and killed our sister-in-law on Friday and then my mother set her on fire on Saturday morning. My mother and I were the killers”: he said.
Officials explained the suspects were arrested and had been handed over to judicial authorities for further investigations.
