Blast inside MoRR widely denounced

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Iran, Pakistan, Qatar, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, the European Union and several current and former Afghan officials have denounced the blast inside the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation in Kabul.

In a statement, IEA said: “With a deep shock, we received news of Minister of Refugees Khalil-ur-RahmanHaqqani’s martyrdom in the barbaric attack.”

The statement called the martyrdom of Haqqani as an irreparable loss for the Islamic Emirate, the mujahideen, his family and all Afghans.

A reliable source, without providing details, told Pajhwok Afghan News that several people had suffered casualties in the attack.

According to reports, Daesh has claimed responsibility for the bombing.

The OIC General Secretariat vehemently condemned the deadly explosion. “Admittedly, the security environment in Afghanistan has improved over the past couple of years, but such insane attacks continue to mar the security and safety of Afghan society, hence the pressing need to step up efforts toward rooting out groups bent on disrupting security and peace in Afghanistan.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar also condemned the attack and said that the country was against any kind of violence, terrorism, and criminal act.

The Iranian embassy in Kabul wrote on X: "The spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ismail Baghaei, strongly condemns the attack in which the minister of refugee affairs lost his life."

Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said: “We are deeply shocked at the death of Khalil urRehman Haqqani and loss of precious lives as a result of a terrorist attack in the Refugee Ministry in Kabul.

“We offer our heartfelt condolences. Pakistan unequivocally condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. We are in touch with the interim Afghan government to ascertain further details.”

The Saudi embassy in Kabul has also denounced the assault, saying it supported the people of Afghanistan against all forms of violence, terrorism, and extremism.

The embassy of Turkey wrote on its X page: "We are deeply saddened to hear that Minister of Refugees and Repatriation, Khalil-ur-Rahman Haqqani, lost his life as a result of the attack. We condemn all forms of terrorism and offer our condolences to the Afghan people."

The European Union said it condemned all acts of violence.

In a post on X, ex-president Hamid Karzai wrote: "I am deeply saddened to hear that Khalil-ur-Rahman Haqqani and several of our fellow citizens have been martyred today in an explosion inside the ministry."

Karzai added that Haqqani, a member of a religious family, had played an important role in the jihad against the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.

Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, former head of the High Peace Council, said: "I am deeply saddened to hear that the acting minister of refugees has been martyred in a terrorist attack on the Ministry's compound. I strongly condemn this attack."

Mullah Abdul Salam Zaeef, former Afghan ambassador to Pakistan, wrote: "The enemy who is against my territorial integrity, stability and unity is an enemy of every individual.

“As long as you think of unity, harmony, self-reliance and independence, that is your enemy. Even in friendship, it is an enemy. Be careful, as their friendship is more dangerous than their enmity. May Allah have mercy on Khalil-ur-Rahman."

Suhail Shaheen, head of IEA’s political office in Qatar, wrote: "Martyr Haji Khalil-ur-Rahman Haqqani spent his entire life in jihad efforts for the freedom of the country and establishment of an Islamic system. He was a servant of the people and sought peace and development in the country. He made great efforts in this path. May Allah accept his martyrdom and grant him paradise."

He stressed the Afghan people must unite to "foil the plots of that cruel and deceitful enemy who time and again tries to separate our great personalities from us."
